WHAT WE BELIEVE

CORE BELIEFS

about beliefs

We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and proclaim Him Lord and Savior of the world. This is the foundation that holds our congregation's life together.

Built upon faith in Jesus Christ we are shaped by scripture, the Holy Spirit and by personal circumstance; we're formed by spiritual practices such as prayer and living in a faithful, loving community; as a diverse faith family we respect one anothers' differences of opinion, experience and choice.

We share open communion. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us.

While we practice believers baptism by immersion, we honor other forms of baptism as practiced throughout churches and Christian traditions.

The Bible equips the church for mission to the world and nourishes believers with spiritual food for growth and maturity in Christ.

FAITH GOALS

about faith

We encourage everyone to share their gifts and talents. We have leadership and service opportunities for all ages, interests and abilities. We excel in serving our community, programming for children and youth, music, education, fellowship and care.

We encourage you to be an active part of the vision and mission of this church, being generous with your time, talents and resources, just as God has been generous with us.

DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

about disciples

First Christian Church is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

As Disciples of Christ and the universal body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us. The red chalice symbolizes the central place of Communion in worship. The X-shaped cross of the disciple Andrew is a reminder of the ministry of each person and the importance of evangelism. Our contemporary version is a simple reminder of the accessibility of the Table.
